Pottery Lecture with award-winning  
Laguna Pueblo potter 
Michael Kanteena

Kanteena specializes in recreations of ancient historic styles, such as those found in the ruins of Chaco Canyon and Mesa Verde. At this lecture he will share why he uses ancient designs in his work and will talk about clays, techniques and traditions.

Due Kanteena's ability to merge old and new cultures, Kanteena’s animals, pots and kachinas are distinctive from other pueblo potters. He often uses ancient designs on contemporarty pottery, but also makes exact reproductions. Pieces will be available for purcahse after the lecture with prices ranging between $60 - $300.

Kanteena received the Wingspread Collector’s Guide Award of Excellence and Judges’ Choice at the prestigious Heard Museum Indian Artists’ show in Phoenix. His work can be found at the Wheelwright Museum of Santa Fe, as well as numerous galleries. He received a BA in Fine Arts from Eastern New Mexico University in 1981.
