Education & Tours

The Education Section of the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History offers a varied selection of object-based museum programs for students, teachers, and families. Our programs are:

  • Fun, interactive, hands-on, and designed to encourage thinking skills and learning from objects.
  • Age-appropriate and developed to address state and local curriculum standards, when applicable.
  • Developed to encourage family learning and exploration.
  • Interdisciplinary, covering science, reading, writing, visual arts, geography, and history.
  • Designed to enhance student understanding of exhibits and related concepts.

Museum field trip opportunities include hands-on guided programs, hands-on workshops, and self-guided visits. If you are interested in classroom resources, we also rent outreach material to bring the museum objects into your classroom. Teachers are encouraged to visit our teacher resources page to find upcoming pre- and post-visit materials and links to other resources on the UC-Boulder campus.

Family programs are offered throughout the year. Monthly themed programs are offered from September through May. Children's Museum Workshops are offered during the summer. We attend many outreach events and hope that you'll stop by our booth when we are out and about! Please visit our Events Calendar for dates and locations.
