Up close and personal, discover the wonder and diversity of seeds: tiny, gift-wrapped packages of life and exemplars of beauty and function. Get a magnified view through a microscope and become familiar with the varied textures of many different botanical subjects. Focus on precision as you study the characteristic form and unique surface features of your subject matter before documenting and drawing every detail.Mervi Hjelmroos-Koski is a Finnish-born scientist with a Ph.D. in quaternary biology and D.Sc. in palynology
Participants may drop-in to the BioLounge any time between 2:00 and 5:00 pm and have access to expert guidance from Dr. Hjelmroos-Koski, amazing natural history specimens to inspire, and microscopes to see the detail of the specimens. This drop-in workshop accompanies the final weeks of the 2014 Guild of Natural Science Illustrators Annual Members Exhibition, hosted by the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History.
