Catherine Chalmers, a multi-media artist, will talk about how her work focuses on the complex relationship between nature and culture. Using video, photography, drawing and sculpture, her work aims to give form to the richness, brutality, and indifference that often characterize our connection with animals. Chalmers uses art as a medium to explore and expand her involvement with nature and to discover a way to broaden the cultural significance of the non-human world
This lecture will accompany the opening of an exhibit of Chalmers' work in the BioLounge, which will be on display until February 2015.
There will be an opening reception for the exhibit from 6:30 - 7:00 pm with light refreshments served. Ms. Chalmers' lecture will begin at 7:00 pm.
