A Bug's Life: Kindergarten - 2nd grade: Join us at the CU Museum as we become entomologists, the scientists who study insects. Use nets to gather insects from the air and sweep them out of the grass. Draw and pin insect specimens and create your own clay caterpillar. Fireflies, ladybugs and other beetles will play a prominent role in our explorations of the vast and diverse insect world.
A Day in the Life: 3rd - 5th grade: This is your chance to try out some of the tools and techniques our museum scientists use to track and study animals, and to collect plants. We’ll orienteer with compass and GPS, explore motion-activated cameras and other non-harmful techniques of gathering animal behavior information. Design a field journal; take home knowledge and supplies to study the diverse life in your own backyard.
Each workshop meets for three hours from 9:00 am - noon at the CU Museum of Natural History on the CU-Boulder Campus. Healthy snacks will be provided.
