Children's Summer Workshops: Happy Feet and A Day in the Life

General Information

Event Category:

$25.00 each
Thursday, June 20, 2013 - 9:00am to 12:00pm
CU Museum

Happy Feet! Kindergarten - 2nd grade: Where would we be without our feet?! Walking, swimming, running and perching are just a few of the things animal feet do. We’ll explore dinosaur tracks and how geckos walk on the ceiling; make plaster casts of tracks and do a little dance. We’ll end with human feet in our moccasin exhibit to look up close at Native American footwear, and make some of your own to take home.

A Day in the Life: 3rd - 5th grade: This is your chance to try out some of the tools and techniques our museum scientists use to track and study animals, and to collect plants. We’ll orienteer with compass and GPS, explore motion-activated cameras and other non-harmful techniques of gathering animal behavior information. Design a field journal; take home knowledge and supplies to study the diverse life in your own backyard.

Each workshop meets for three hours from 9:00 am - noon at the CU Museum of Natural History on the CU-Boulder Campus. Healthy snacks will be provided.
