Museum Advisory Board Member

I am originally from Pennsylvania and have been living in Colorado since 1964. I think of myself as a "fallen" scientist but would probably best be termed an artist/writer because I now do editorial cartoons for many newspapers west of the Mississippi. I also write articles on the West, create mystery novel covers (60+), illustrate newsletters, and even design T-shirts. I volunteer with the Forest Service as a member of the Indian Peaks/James Peak Wilderness Alliance and am a crew leader with Wildlands Restoration Volunteers (250+projects) doing wetland restoration, wild fire revegetation, erosion control, and eradication of noxious weeds. I am certified as a Native Plant Master for Front Range Flora with the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

In addition to being on the Advisory Board for the Museum, I have served on the City of Longmont Parks and Recreation Open Space Advisory Board for two terms and am now a member of the City of Longmont Housing and Human Services Advisory Board, and an active Meals on Wheels driver in Longmont.

My hobbies include collecting primitive masks (300+), ceramics from the Southwest and the Americas (both modern and Pre-Columbian), Navajo rugs, and I've been an amateur lepidopterist for most of my adult life (specializing in mimicry of the Limenitini family). I am an opera aficionado (mostly Denver and Central City), a cinema buff who is a long-time Telluride Film Festival attendee, and a regular at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival.
