Join Colorado State University Professor Emeritus Dr. Anthony Tu, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History for his lecture “Sea Snake and Rattlesnake Venoms.” Dr. Tu will share his experiences collecting sea snakes in the Philippines, Thailand and Costa Rica. He will also talk about sea snake venom in detail including how much venom they produce, how toxic it is and what immunological properties it contains. The lecture will highlight both the local and systemic effects of rattlesnake venom, which contain both coagulant and anticoagulant.

The University of Colorado Museum of Natural History will screen local director, writer, producer Jessica Orecks award-winning film “Beetle Queen Conquers Tokyo” at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20 at the museum. Vertebrate Zoology Collections Manager Mariko Kageyama will provide an introduction to the film in both English and Japanese
