Climate Change and Its Impact on Polar Bears

April 15, 2013

Join the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History and the Consulate General of Canada, 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 17 at the CU--Boulder Visual Arts Complex, room 1B20 (lower level), 1085 18th St., for a co-hosted presentation by keynote speaker Ian Stirling, Ph.D., adjunct professor University of Alberta and Canadian polar bear and climate change expert.

In his talk, Insights into the Natural History of Polar Bears and the Significance of Climate Warming, Dr. Stirling will emphasize how Arctic climate change is impacting polar bears, presenting startling facts and stunning Arctic photos. Stirling’s concern is that climate warming is causing significant changes to the distribution and availability of sea ice at critical times of the year, when polar bears need these frozen features as platforms to hunt marine mammals.
